Application Opens June 2, 2025

We’re headed to Detroit for our next cohort!

bETA (bridging Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition) is a hybrid accelerator to help enable underrepresented entrepreneurs to buy and grow existing businesses. With the support of our partners, we are introducing bETA to the Detroit market, to train acquirers to buy and build their businesses in Detroit and across Wayne County.

We are living through an historic moment in terms of the massive transfer of wealth to a younger generation of business owners. bETA is designed to provide the education and connect buyers with the local market.

The accelerator offers 9 modules through a combination of in-person and virtual weekly sessions. Each module of the accelerator provides participants with in-depth knowledge about the process of acquiring a business – from finding a target to what to look for in due diligence, from financing to running it.

Here is what is covered each week:

  • Orientation Intro to ETA: Search models, Why You, and the ETA process
  • Finding the Right Business How to find deals, a target, and where to look
  • Finance & Valuation Financial due diligence, operational due diligence, Confidential Information Memorandums (CIM)
  • Structuring How to pay, transaction structures, and deal types
  • HR/People Leadership and management styles, organizational behavior, hiring, and culture
  • Negotiations & Legal Financing, negotiations, and structuring from a legal perspective
  • Marketing Identifying target customers and competitors, marketing strategy
  • Operations & Technology Operational problems and processes, process evaluation and improvement
  • After the Acquisition What to do in the first 100 days

Our online classes and meetings amount to approximately 12 hours per week. Our in-person sessions take place at three key moments – a two-day Orientation, a mid-point workshop and site visit, and a final Graduation Ceremony.

Join us for an Info Session on June 2nd to learn more about the Detroit accelerator and application process.
